Local Tejano bands:
 During the past three years, we have witnessed an increased interest in
Tejano music and are often asked to make a referral for a "good Tejano
band." Even non Tejanos seem to be groove'n on the tunes. They are not sure
what it is, but they like it. Bay Area Tejanos is pleased with these
developments and will do our part to keep it going because we are a non
profit organization, committed to enhancing the Tejano culture and arts.
If your band or dance troupe specializes in Tejano, let us know and we
will post your bio and contact info here. With as many hits as our website
receives on a weekly basis, you are almost assured of getting some gigs.

 The
Niteliters are a Tejano band based in San Jose, CA.
Our own Jesus Covarrubias, a band member, is currently a
Tenured Professor of Ethnic Studies and Mexican American
Studies and Music at San Jose City College. In addition,
Jesus is an adjunct Faculty member at San Jose State
University in the Mexican American Studies department
and Social Science department. In 1989 he joined “Dr.
Loco’s Rockin’ Jalapeno Band” which went on to become
one of the Bay area’s most critically acclaimed Latino
Bands. This band has shared the stage with many
Headliners including: Little Joe Y La Familia, Bob
Gallarza, Emilio Navaira, Estrella, The Texas Tornados,
Jaime Y Los Chamacos, Jesse Serrata, Jimmy Gonzalez Y
Grupo Mazz as well as the late Freddy Fender to name a

 Tejano
Gold and several of its members have received many
accolades from numerous business/nonprofit
organizations, Congressmen, Congresswoman, The Armed
Services. Tejano Gold has also been inducted into
the Tejano Music Museum. With the current passing of
the bands founder the group is working on a tribute
concert to benefit the American Society and a
tribute CD to be released this Summer.
